Indian PM Modi pays surprise visit to Lahore

Indian Premier Narendra Modi landed on Lahore’s Allama Iqbal Internatioanl Airport today in his surprise visit to Pakistan. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother CM Shahbaz Sharif were present to welcome him.

Before Modi came out of jet, the Indian media team left the jet to cover and capture the moments. Modi came out of the jet in his traditional style, waving his hands and embraced Nawaz Sharif. However, then, both flew in helicopter to Nawaz Sharif’s private residence in Raiwind. Pakistani media wasn’t allowed for talk with Modi.

Modi in LahoreThis is the first visit to Pakistan of an Indian Prime Minister since last more than a decade.

Earlier, Modi, in his first tweet wished Nawaz Sharif happy birthday then he tweeted he would stop over in Lahore on his way to New Dehli from Afghanistan. This tweet surprised not only both countries’ media but also public.
